Community Projects and Humanitarian Involvement Include:

Extreme Makeover, Home Edition

When the popular ABC television show came to our neck of the woods, we were excited to become a part.  While the main builder did all of the work on the selected home, we volunteered our services to give something to the surrounding neighbors.  The episode (March 15th  2008, Latif family, Wilmington DE) was located in down town Wilmington, and several homes on the block were in need of roofing, windows, and trimwork.  “Even though we did not get the recognition from being on the program, it still felt great to help those neighbors that had the look on their faces as if they were jealous of the Makeover family.” For more information on this event, click here.

Habitat for Humanity
Started in 1976 Habitat’s goal is to eliminate poverty housing all over the globe.  The program joins volunteers with families in need and they work together on either the construction or rehabilitation of homes.  Habitat’s success is dependant not only on its volunteers but also on donations of money and materials. Power Windows and Siding has contributed to local chapters of Habitat for Humanity by sending out teams of volunteers as well as through material donation. See article

Philadelphia Care Adopt-A-Family
We understand the difficulties families face around the holidays, particularly during a time of economic instability.  Our marketing department voluntarily donated a portion of their commissions and the company matched it, resulting in a total of $2,500.  Our team went Holiday shopping with the proceeds for the Marshall family from Philadelphia and their 4 children had the best Christmas ever.

NGF
The National Gaucher Foundation (NGF) was established in 1984 as a non-profit, tax exempt organization dedicated to supporting and promoting research towards the cause, treatments and a cure for Gaucher Disease. “Our mission has expanded to promote education and awareness, fund financial programs vital to the Gaucher community and to meet the ever-increasing needs of individuals with Gaucher disease and their families.”   NGF is a cause very close to the PWS family and we’ve held multiple fundraising initiatives.

Thanksgiving Giving
You might just catch our team donating turkeys around the holidays at shelters or in areas less fortunate.

Children’s Hospital
In the summer of 2007 PWS reached out to the local community in order to help Tyler Hauser, 8, of Parkside, PA who was diagnosed with Pineal Germinoma brain cancer in April 2007.  Power Windows and Siding, held a fundraiser for Tyler on August 31, 2007.  All proceeds from the event went to Tyler for his medical care.  The event featured a FREE concert by the Fabulous Greaseband.  The event was a success and we are happy to say that today Tyler is in third grade and cancer free! See article about Tyler Hauser
